Getting The Band Back Together Again
The Princeton '76 Visual Arts Program Artists at 185 Nassau Street
"As a printer/sculptor I felt a fish out of water in this program in 1976 but our 45th has let me finally relax with other individuals I didn’t know well enough back then."

Controlled accidents… "happenings"… process art… earthworks… cerebral and sensual concepts I explored at 185 (tying down Wilcox Hall with twine and stakes, still a gleeful memory.) But my leaving project reverted to autobiography: layering images on silk from my early childhood in Japan. After 1976 I had no intention of continuing in fine arts, but instead enjoyed a career in communications design and art editing in the service of luxury products – so incredibly controlled. Ten years ago, I started creating serial shops called Fantasia, designing them as “happenings” and happy accidents. My customer community is awed by all the colors, objects and materials ricocheting off each other; sometimes I even sell a bit... And my favorites in the mix are still silks and images from Japan, tying it all up neatly for me.
